Liomia Potter to L. Thomas, from Baltimore 11 Nov 1864 stating that she has not heard from her husband in months who is in 4th USCT. Adds that she and others "are all poor women from the Eastern Shore of Md just out of slavery."

Private John Potter, who was enslaved at the time of his enlistment in Baltimore on August 11, 1863, died of disease at Fortress Monroe on November 15, 1864.
